Karen Fennell
Chorégraphe, Interprète
Karen Fennell is a contemporary dance artist originally from Corner Brook, Newfoundland, based in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal since 2004. Since completing her BFA at Concordia University, she works as a dancer and choreographer on a diversity of projects for stage, video, installation and site-specific performance. She has performed with and for choreographers Dana Gingras, Tedd Robinson, Sasha Kleinplatz, Martin Messier, Maria Kefirova and Erin Flynn (among others), and worked extensively with visual artist duos Chloe Lum & Yannick Desranleau and Sarah Wendt & Pascal Dufaux. Her own choreographic projects interrogate and queer conventional notions of identity, relationships, and the performance experience itself, seeking subtle and often playful ways to disrupt an audience's expectations.
