Ariane Dubé-Lavigne

A dance artist since 2011, Ariane Dubé-Lavigne works as a mover, researcher and facilitator in a variety of communities. She collaborates as a performer with some fifteen choreographers from the Montreal and Quebec scenes, as well as with artists from the visual arts, music, theater and puppetry. She also presents a series of solos developed from transdisciplinary research on rocking, the movements of presence, the relationship to objects and the relationship between speech and gesture.
In 2017, Ariane enrolled in the D.E.S.S. in Somatic Education at UQAM's dance department, and has since been involved as a research and teaching assistant. In addition to guiding movement classes in the community since 2013, Ariane is also a certified Authentic Movement facilitator and is pursuing a mentoring process in Continuum.
Since summer 2021, Ariane has been developing the Rencontres artisanales project, an in situ relational art experience aimed at one person at a time. Based on a selection of objects and a particular presence with the other, this accompanied artistic rendezvous focuses on the taming of the unknown and the poetic emergences that ensue. It is based on the way we connect and feel connected to others. The common thread running through Ariane's approach is to seek a better understanding of the faces of connection, using the body as an ear.
