Seeking for a Communications Manager

Théâtre de l’Œil

Promoting the art of puppetry has been the raison d’être of the Théâtre de l’Œil since 1973. A research and creation company, the spirit of innovation that characterizes it is expressed in its productions for young audiences, in its ability to disseminate them and in its professional training activities.

Founded in 1973 by Francine Saint-Aubin and André Laliberté, who was the company’s artistic director for 47 years, Théâtre de l’Œil now boasts some 30 productions. Since 2020, Simon Boudreault has been the company’s artistic director, after holding a number of different roles within the company, starting as puppeteer. A touring company, since its inception Théâtre de l’Œil has distributed its shows extensively in Quebec, Canada and abroad. Thanks to the work and creativity of 350 artists and craftspeople, the company has reached over 1.4 million spectators in some 5800 performances on four continents.

Job role

  • Reporting to the Head of Circulation and the General Manager, the incumbent supports the team in achieving the objectives assigned to him/her:
  • By developing and implementing a communications strategy;
  • Ensuring communications-related functions (website, social networks, promotional material, newsletter and other distribution platforms);
  • Acting as an essential support for presenting;
  • By fostering collaboration and teamwork (general and artistic management and head of distribution).

Main duties

  • Design and plan editorial calendars adapted to various projects;
  • Develop and implement content strategies, both paid and free;
  • Write newsletters;
  • Produce various editorial supports, including show presentation files, making-offs, web articles, philanthropic files, as well as internal and external communication documents;
  • Manage social networks, including the creation of visual content (video editing, photography) and the animation of communities;
  • Analyze campaign performance and propose optimizations;
  • Update and optimize the website;
  • Coordinate communication and follow-up of promotional material with external partners and cultural players;
  • Manage communication tools and design promotional materials;
  • Organize fundraising events, in collaboration with the team, including the search for partners and the creation of campaigns to maximize visibility;
  • Participate in the development of philanthropy in collaboration with the management team;
  • Participate in writing grant applications.

Profile required

  • Training in communications, marketing or related field;
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role;
  • Very good knowledge of social media (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) and web platforms such as MailChimp and WordPress;
  • Experience in video recording and editing;
  • Ability to learn and integrate new software, such as InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro and Cap Cut Pro
  • Good command of Meta Business and Google Analytics platforms;
  • Strong sense of organization and responsibility, meticulousness and discretion;
  • Excellent ability to manage several projects simultaneously with several people involved;
  • Team spirit, dynamism, resourcefulness;
  • Fluency in spoken and written French and good command of English;
  • Knowledge of and keen interest in the theatrical world, an asset.
