Festival Quartiers Danses’s Journée de la Francophonie

For its 22ᵉ edition, the FQD invites you to a free Journée de la Francophonie, on September 11 from 3pm.

Take part in poetic and fun activities for all in a festive and inclusive atmosphere. Join us in Sir-Georges-Étienne-Cartier Park for a free day of encounters and discoveries, orchestrated in collaboration with Debout : Actes de parole. This year, the Salon du livre de Montréal joins our celebration with Chloé Rochette, author of Tout le monde aime danser, and the Livresse bookstore, offering books on dance and the French-speaking world.

This day is an invitation to all Montreal communities to come together, express themselves and celebrate the French language, rooted in multicultural encounters around the resonance between words and movement. The event offers a dialogue between dance and poetry in the form of a variety of playful and accessible activities: word and movement games, a dance-poetry workshop, writing exercises, micro-openings with dance readings, improvised dance performances, a closing show… It’s the perfect opportunity to explore the relationship between the words of the French language and movement, while celebrating the diversity of bodies, words and trajectories that enrich the multicultural landscape of Quebec and Canada. Whether you’re a dance enthusiast, a poetry lover, or simply curious, join us for an enriching and immersive experience, where words and movement intertwine to create unforgettable moments.

Creative afternoon: Continuous artistic activities

Take part in a dance-poetry workshop, watch improvised dance performances and share your creations at an open mic. A wide range of public artistic expression activities awaits you to explore the relationship between words and movement. As a festive finale, the Taafé Fanga group invites you to a grand finale celebration to the bewitching rhythms of West Africa. Join us for an interactive performance that will bring the audience together in a unique musical and dancing experience.
