About the Class

VIVUS/movement is a class based on concepts from contemporary dance, stretching, and vocal techniques that promote the bodily awakening of each participant through sensations. Through explorations based on intuitive movement, the modulation of physicality will be addressed through notions of texture, weight, speed, and more. This experience invites participants to move without judgment, each at their own pace, with no notion of right or wrong, while being guided by their internal impulses. Above all, it is about finding the joy of movement, pleasure, and release. Come with an open mind. This class is intended for dancers, yogis, curious individuals, and anyone who loves to move!

About James Viveiros

James Viveiros is a dance artist of Cree, Métis, and Portuguese descent, whose career spans over 25 years, including extensive work with Compagnie Marie Chouinard in Montreal. As an educator, he draws on his extensive experience by leading workshops in contemporary dance and performing arts, working with actors, dancers, circus artists, yogis, hockey players, opera singers, and the general public. In addition to creating and collaborating with artists across Canada, James frequently travels to share his passion for movement in various schools, universities, and artistic institutions.
