A short and very useful course to learn more about tax law as it applies to non-profit organizations

The training will allow participants to gain a comprehensive understanding of the tax issues that affect their non-profit organization, while being better informed on certain practical aspects of taxation.

The trainer will present fundamental concepts related to the goods and services tax (GST) as well as the Quebec sales tax (QST), in addition to addressing the tax obligations specific to non-profit organizations (NPOs).

The main objective is to provide objective information on your organization’s tax obligations by answering concrete and practical questions. For example, topics such as the taxation of membership dues and the key differences between the T4, T4a and T5 forms will be discussed.

Objectives

  • Define the tax status of nonprofit organizations.
  • Understand tax calculations for nonprofit organizations’ revenues and expenses.
  • Understand what is required from nonprofit organizations for both tax forms and tax returns.

Who can benefit from this training?

Managers, administrators and workers of cultural organizations.

Instructor

Member of the Quebec Chartered Professional Accountant Order since 2004, Philippe Beaulieu (MBA, CPA auditor, CA) runs his own artistic management firm offering administrative support and tax advice for artists and cultural workers. He is also a lecturer at l’École de comptabilité of Laval University.
