Instructor
A Montréal-based choreographer and a prominent figure in Québec’s hip-hop dance scene, ‘Spicey’ Landé began her career as a performer and teacher. As an independent choreographer, she presented three works in Québec before 2015, including Retrospek (2008, featuring nine performers), a piece that profoundly influenced a generation of Montréal street dancers.
The production Retrospek earned the RIDEAU-Entrées en scène Loto-Québec Award in 2009 and was showcased by approximately 20 presenters. At the same time, the Bust A Move festival, which she founded (2005–2015), became the largest street dance competition in Canada, drawing up to 3,500 attendees annually. In 2010, TOHU joined as a co-presenter.
With over two decades of experience as a hip-hop dancer and instructor, ‘Spicey’ is frequently invited to teach and judge street dance competitions both locally and internationally. Passionately committed to nurturing emerging street dancers, she has directed B-Side, an annual event produced by Ebnflōh since 2019, dedicated to advancing street dance skills. She also offers workshops and mentorship programs to emerging artists. Additionally, she has served on several boards, including the Regroupement québécois de la danse, where she was vice president from 2020 to 2022, and Jack Of All Trades (Festival JOAT) since 2021.
This training, offered by Culture Laval in collaboration with the Conseil de la formation continue Arts et culture de l’Île-de-Montréal (CFC) and the Regroupement québécois de la danse, is made possible thanks to financial support from the Government of Québec through the Intervention-Compétences program managed by Compétence Culture.
