THROB – Self-Intimacy Workshop

This is your invitation to THROB (intro) – a self-intimacy workshop with certified coach and dancer Gerard X Reyes.

Join me for a journey back to yourself through breathwork, self-touch, and dance. THROB is designed to offer tools to explore your body and feel more connected to it. I created this workshop to deepen the connection between your body and mind while sparking curiosity and building self-confidence. THROB is a solo practice, held in community (check the FAQ in the “discussion” of this event for details). Unapologetically queer — together we will co-create an inclusive space where all genders and orientations are welcome and celebrated.

FYI if you attended a previous THROB, I will teach new exercises in this one.

The workshop will include:

– body scan
– opening circle, shared agreement
– guided breathwork
– guided self-touch
– guided movement
– self practice
– integration
– closing circle

– confidentiality
– consent with yourself and others
– the space Tension requires us to keep our bottom underwear on – which makes it easier for most newbies!
– we refrain from touching others or cruising
– filming or photography is not allowed
– this is a sober, intentional space so we refrain from drugs or alcohol before or during

As a dance artist and a certified somatic s€xologist through the Institute of Somatic S¢xology in Australia, I have 25 years of embodied practices and training including many styles of dance, meditation, yoga, breathwork, Continuum, Feldenkrais, Qi Gong and massage. My work is based on liberating the vital, e-ro-tic power in the body. My research began by teaching this through the queer art of voguing and currently am exploring ways to reconnect with our primal self and our instincts through our senses and intentions. This is allowing me to live more fully in my body and with other human and non-human beings.

I am also queer and non-binary so I have lived much discomfort trying to fit into how society wants me to act and healing the fragmentation with a lot of practice and focus. In my workshops, whether they are somatic intimacy or voguing, I focus on creating a space where everyone feels welcome and capable of doing the work, from wherever they’re at.
