About Bernard Martin

For over 20 years, Bernard Martin has lent his brilliant technique and versatility to companies and choreographers of international stature. With Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal (1991-1997), he danced repertory works, notably by Balanchine, and choreographies by contemporary creators such as James Kudelka, Mark Morris, Nacho Duato, Jirí Kylián and Ohad Naharin. With Montréal-Danse (1997-2001), he performed works by Montréal creators such as José Navas, Dominique Porte and Paula de Vasconcelos. He also performed Eironos for the Fondation Jean-Pierre Perreault. Bernard Martin was a member of La La La Human Steps, directed by Édouard Lock, from 2001 to 2009. With this company, he performed on the stages of the world’s major cultural capitals. Bernard played leading roles in Amjad, Amélia – the ballet and the film – as well as in Les Boréades, an opera by Jean-Philippe Rameau, choreographed by Édouard Lock and presented at the Opéra de Paris. Bernard also collaborated with Le Carré des Lombes from 2009 to 2013, and has been working with Louise Bédard Danse since 2010. He joined the faculty of the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal in 2009, where he teaches ballet for contemporary dancers and performance workshops.
