Talking Circle with Vladimir “7Starr” Laurore
The Regroupement québécois de la danse welcomes you to the next talking circle featuring Vladimir “7Starr” Laurore, a dancer and pioneer of Montreal’s Krump scene.
The Haitian artist founded many crews, events, and organizations in connection with Krump culture across Montreal and Canada. Krump is a high-intensity freestyle dance containing movements that express dancers’ passion, energy, and physical and mental commitment.
Hosted by Valérie Lessard and based on the principle of fair sharing, participants will learn about the career path that led the founding director to MTL Krump Alliance and will share experiences and thoughts on diversifying practices in dance, cultivating intercultural contact, and raising awareness about urban dance in Quebec’s and Canada’s dance landscapes.
As part of Black History Month, we will convene at the café of the MAI, located at 3680 Jeanne-Mance Street, at 5 p.m. on February 3. The doors open from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., after which they will remain closed to foster the spirit of disclosure that these discussions require.
We strongly recommend you to take note of the commented lexicon Comprendre les enjeux de l’inclusion en danse published by the RQD prior to the talking circle.
