Over the course of a three-day weekend, I offer an intensive dive into the material of the first five sessions of the introductory pedagogy of Open Source Forms (OSF). It’s a great way to immerse yourself in this transformative work and an excellent preparation for anyone interested in participating in the six weekly classes that will follow in the Fall Courses at La Poêle.

OSF is a somatic movement practice that evolved fluidly from Joan Skinner’s Skinner Releasing Technique (SRT). OSF focuses on the cross-fertilization of physical practice and the creative process. It is guided by the philosophy that the source of creativity and physical wisdom is available to each of us, and can be accessed by shedding limiting patterns, connecting to energetic impulses, developing the agility to navigate and integrate different states of consciousness, and using imagery as a powerful tool for transformation. It also holds that the voice is part of our physicality and is an expression of energy. If we consider Open, Source, and Form as verbs, we can approach the course as an opportunity for opening, sourcing or resourcing, and deforming to reform or find new forms. Each session is unique and builds on the modalities of touch, deep state imagery, physical explorations focused on alignment and coordination, and scores for improvisation.
