Double Bill
“Iconic” is a dance piece created by artists with disabilities from the National accessArts Centre troupe. A collection of solos, duets, and group sections, “Iconic” incorporates a wide range of dance and performance styles, individual expression, and collaborations inspired by the troupe’s personal jargon and experiences. Through movement, visual arts, sound, and conversation, “Iconic” explores concepts of love, loss, independence, relationships, and alter egos. Grounded in improvisation, this innovative work is accessible to both artists and audiences.
A tribute to lip-syncing, “Mon horoscope me trouve laide” (My Horoscope Finds Me Ugly) delves into the absurdity and poetry of using another person’s voice. With the magic of dubbing, anything is possible: caricaturing others’ traits, gaining confidence by wearing an external speech, transforming using a texture that is not our own. Through this initially artificial parody, this duo exposes our daily lives stuffed with popular references.
