Je ne vais pas inonder la mer” is a danced elegy addressing the relationship with mothers and the legacy involved in constructing femininity. To compose this solo, Mexican choreographer and performer Sonia Bustos drew from her personal history and identity quest marked by the loss of her mother and grandmother.

At the confluence of questions about the feminine condition, lineage, and memory, the artist explores in her theatrical dance the phenomena of reminiscence by engaging the five senses. Food, music, the evocation of customs, beliefs, and rituals all feed into this visceral creation.

Vibrotactile Pillows — available at each performance

Vibrotactile pillows will be available to audience members to experience the production’s sound in the form of direct vibrations. Each pillow is equipped with a transducer that produces both the sound and accompanying vibration. A transducer is an electronic device that converts energy from one form to another. Thus, these pillows convert sound energy into an enhanced vibratory experience.

The pillows are soft and can be held in the arms, placed behind the back, under the feet, or wherever is most comfortable for the user.

** The pillows are available in limited quantity, with priority given to deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals. Please select the vibrotactile pillow option ($20) when purchasing your tickets.
