Dance in a dojo with Alanna Kraaijeveld
This workshop offers practitioners the opportunity to explore the Fighting Monkey practice in a dojo setting—a studio with a tatami-covered floor. Artists can experiment and engage with movement in dialogue with this soft, absorbing surface.
Artists and movement enthusiasts of all disciplines, experiences, and ages are welcome.

ACCESSIBILITY
The workshop is offered in English and French. The Thailong dojo has a tatami-covered floor (mats). The studio is on the ground floor, accessible via a few steps from the street entrance.
SESSIONS INCLUDE
Coordinations
- Exploring joint mobility through multi-planar, multi-articular coordination exercises in space
- Continuous demonstration style for participants to follow
Improvisations
- Individual qualitative or task-based improvisations
- Demonstration and verbal cues provide guidance, followed by personal exploration
- We take our time with each proposition
- Work takes place both standing and on the floor, with adaptations available if needed
Movement Situations
- Task-based dances using the FM practice ball, martial arts belt, and/or wooden blocks
- Explored with a partner
- We take our time with each proposition
