Awareness-Raising Activity: Blanket Exercise
Danse Danse invites you to participate in the Blanket Exercise, organized alongside the performance Raven Mother by the company Dancers of Damelahamid.
The Blanket Exercise is an awareness activity designed to educate participants about the colonial history and the experience of dispossession faced by Indigenous peoples in Quebec and Canada, as well as its impact on their current realities.
During the activity, participants are invited to move on blankets representing Turtle Island (Canada) and are assigned the roles of First Nations, Inuit, and later, Métis. Facilitators read from a script and embody the roles of European explorers and colonizers.
Workshop in French.
Ages 14 and up.
