The Shim Sham is originally a tap dance routine choreographed in 1926 by Leonard Reed and Willie Bryant. The lindy hoppers of New York adapted it in their own way, which became the Savoy-style Shim Sham.

Al Minns and Leon James, jazz dancers who were notably part of Whitey’s Lindy Hoppers, also adopted it, adding steps and variations reflecting their strong partnership.

Prerequisites: Knowing the Savoy-Style Shim Sham or any type of dance experience.

Instructor: Daphné Lehoux Traversy
