A choreographic epic centered around the legendary Trotteur, the man—this legend!—who ran faster than horses, ships, and trains.

Marginalized and scorned by loved ones who could not accept his eccentricity, Alexis Lapointe (1860-1924), a figure from Quebec folklore with extraordinary vigor and physical abilities, became, for the society of his time, a sideshow attraction celebrated for his feats and applauded by all with a mix of curiosity and admiration. How would Alexis, this eternal adolescent who dared to magnify his uniqueness, be received today?

One hundred years after the death of the Trotteur, Ample Man Danse pays tribute to him through a choreographic process combining contemporary dance and stage interactivity, with a leitmotif of the character’s quest for freedom and his need to exist in the eyes of others. Follow the five performers in a dynamic—and at times equine—dance, inspired by the personality, vigor, and madness of Alexis Lapointe, known as “the horse-man.”

A show for all audiences, suitable for ages 10 and up.

A co-presentation of La Rotonde and the Grand Théâtre de Québec.
