Dialogue – la création in situ avec Ilya Krouglikov

En s’appuyant sur quelques exemples d’œuvres auxquelles il a participé comme dramaturge ou à titre d’interprète-créateur, Ilya Krouglikov animera cette conversation ouverte pour réfléchir aux différents contextes de présentation et aux pratiques qui s’inscrivent à l’extérieur des lieux de diffusion traditionnels. Pourquoi choisir un lieu plutôt qu’un autre pour accueillir une proposition artistique? Comment ce lieu peut-il devenir un moteur de création? Quels sont les enjeux à relever pour inscrire une œuvre dans l’espace public, en dehors des sentiers battus?

Ilya Krouglikov élabore son approche indisciplinée des arts vivants depuis plus de dix ans, avec une attention particulière portée à la composition et au rythme. Scientifique de formation, il croit en des structures inventives ouvertes aux aléas du présent. À titre de dramaturge, il accompagne divers processus de création en danse, en théâtre et en performance, notamment aux côtés de Sarah Dell’Ava, Eduardo Ruiz Vergara, Aurélie Pedron et Les sœurs Schmutt.

Escrimeur d’expérience, il transporte l’engagement du corps dans le champ de la danse. En tant qu’interprète, Ilya fait incursion dans les univers des chorégraphes et artistes visuelles Bettina Hoffman et Pé Vermeersch (Belgique). En tandem avec le chorégraphe Eduardo Ruiz Vergara, il crée et interprète Yeux de Cérès présenté au MAI (Montréal, 2014) et à Mains d’Œuvres (Paris, 2015). Avec son collectif « Berceurs du temps », il cherche à apprivoiser la lenteur et la contemplation par le biais d’œuvres participatives dans l’espace public ‒ à l’instar de l’installation Bercer le temps, archive vivante des berceuses du monde, qui tourne dans les parcs et squares du Grand Montréal depuis l’été 2017.

Drawing on examples of works in which he has participated as a dramaturge or as a performer-creator, Ilya Krouglikov will lead this open conversation to reflect on the different contexts of presentation and practices that take place outside of traditional venues. Why choose one venue over another to host an artistic proposal? How can this place become an engine of creation? What are the challenges of placing a work in the public space, off the beaten track?

Ilya Krouglikov has been developing his undisciplined approach to the performing arts for over ten years, with a particular focus on composition and rhythm. A scientist by training, he believes in inventive structures that are open to the vagaries of the present. As a dramaturge, he has accompanied various creative processes in dance, theater and performance, notably with Sarah Dell’Ava, Eduardo Ruiz Vergara, Aurélie Pedron and Les sœurs Schmutt.

As an experienced fencer, he brings the engagement of the body into the field of dance. As an interpreter, Ilya has made inroads into the worlds of choreographers and visual artists Bettina Hoffman and Pé Vermeersch (Belgium). In tandem with choreographer Eduardo Ruiz Vergara, he created and performed Yeux de Cérès presented at the MAI (Montreal, 2014) and at Mains d’Œuvres (Paris, 2015). With his collective « Berceurs du temps », he seeks to tame slowness and contemplation through participatory works in public space – like the installation Bercer le temps, a living archive of lullabies from around the world, which has been touring parks and squares in Greater Montreal since summer 2017.
