Solo Jazz Dance Class with Daphné Lehoux
This 10-session dance course will showcase vernacular jazz dance from the African-American culture of the first half of the 20th century.
Specific objectives as well as fundamental notions are on the menu:
Capture the groove of jazz music
Experiment with basic Charleston steps and variations
Dive into the rich vocabulary of jazz steps (Stomp Off, Suzie Q, Fall Off the Log, Shorty George, Snake Hips, etc.).
Follow a short choreographic sequence to consolidate what you’ve learned
Develop your own style, drawing on the energy of the group in improvisational spaces.
Jazz is a street dance, a social dance as much as a spectacular dance. The emphasis on rhythm and footwork allows for singular self-expression. Because jazz isn’t just a dance, it’s a VIBE.
Prerequisites – None, except a willingness to dive into a rich universe of dance, without judgment and with a cool attitude.
