As part of the Journées de la culture, on Friday, September 27, 2024, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., the public is invited to witness the behind-the-scenes process of Pour perdre le monde by Margie Gillis, performed by second-year students from the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal.
A discussion with the audience will take place during the activity with Geneviève Boulet, company performer and assistant director.
/// About the piece
Pour perdre le monde confronts the harsh reality that half of the global population consists of refugees, a figure expected to rise exponentially due to climate change. Who are we in this state of statelessness? Who are we when we are homeless and uprooted? This piece embarks on a quest for empathy and compassion.
It tells a story exploring the phenomenon of forced flight, vulnerability, loss of home, and the search for a new life. You are invited to discover the inner workings of the journey of our soul while highlighting the poetry within the art of dance.
The piece is part of the show Littérature du corps, performed by the dancers of the Héritage Project.
