Workshop | Be Heintzman Hope — The Choreographic Fables of Stripper Gollum
10:00AM to 1:00PM
This workshop plays with socialized notions of sexuality and the Buddhist concept of the hungry ghost. In Eastern philosophy, the hungry ghost represents the insatiable hunger that inhabits people, often associated with unquenchable desire and addiction. Striptease has its roots in many dance cultures, including ballet, as an exchange between the dancer and the patron.
Stripper Gollum serves as a mutant figure grappling with feelings of emptiness, desires, and the desires others have of them—aiming to develop compassionate humor toward internal and external hauntings.

Each day will begin with a guided training session to warm up and sweat while listening to music. After the warm-up, we will dive into state-based research. We will transform this research into a personal choreography before developing it collectively into a group phrase that will deepen both physically and dramaturgically throughout the week.
