Develop key market positioning strategies, get to know and understand Quebec touring networks, and make them your allies.

Do you dream of taking your show on the road in Quebec? Would you like to learn more about presenting work and presenting cycles? This training will give you the tools you need to knock on the right doors and approach the right presenters. It will improve your general knowledge of dance market development and promotion in Quebec.

After identifying the key characteristics of your artistic approach and the productions you wish to tour, the instructor will help you find the venues most likely to present your work.

You will also learn about the steps in the life cycle and development of a show, to support your professional relationships with presenters.

Finally, we will explore how these networks (ROSEQ, Réseau Centre, Réseau Scènes, Objectif scène, Accès culture, RIDEAU, etc.) work, with special emphasis on programming timelines, touring criteria, local touring conditions, etc.

A participant booklet as well as practical exercises will be available online during the training.

Trainer

A cultural worker for over 25 years, Marie Bernier has experience in both dissemination and production in various roles: distribution agent for a producer, tour director, programming assistant, multidisciplinary disseminator in a municipal setting, summer programming coordinator, and school public development agent. Her diverse experience in both distribution and production shapes her perspective, which emphasizes the importance of understanding her partners’ realities. Having coordinated the Jouer dehors program for La danse sur les routes du Québec until 2017, she now oversees the market development program for spoken word artists, Circuit Paroles Vivantes.

This training was developed by Marie Bernier and La danse sur les routes du Québec (La DSR), with support from the Conseil québécois de la musique. It is offered by La DSR, the Regroupement québécois de la danse (RQD)and the Conseil québécois du théâtre (CQT). It is made possible through financial support from the Fonds de développement et de reconnaissance des compétences de la main-d’œuvre and Compétence Culture, comité sectoriel de main-d’œuvre en culture.
