This series of six (6) workshops, totaling twenty (20) hours of training, is designed to provide dance performers and artists with the tools, skills and attitudes needed to act on their stage presence and make it vibrant, felt and intelligible.

Through exercises and structured improvisations involving observation, feeling and creativity, you’ll develop your ability to embody and project the intentions or emotions you really want to convey to your audiences.

Focusing on your intrinsic communication skills and moving away from ready-made or “fashionable” formulas, the training will lead you to make conscious and controlled use of the unique qualities of your personal expression, of listening to yourself, to others, to the environment and to the moment, in order to enhance your ability to give audiences a real and authentic experience.

Objectives

  • Identify who you’re talking to and focus on what your audience wants.
  • Rediscover and exploit your communication and creative potential.
  • Tame discomfort, learn to relax and cultivate pleasure in the moment.
  • Identify and manage your emotions to better convey them to your audience.
  • Get to know yourself better and be more yourself as an artist.

Who can benefit from this training?

To dance performers and artists.

From the experimental Théâtre de La Veillée in Montreal, to the dance schools of southern India, Marie-Noël Mainguy explores presence with Gabriel Arcand (theater), Nina Watts (dance), Danielle Fichaud (TV) and Robert Favreau (film).

In her quest to see the essence of being in the performing artist, she created a creative dance workshop in her twenties, then in her thirties, a creative acting method entitled L’ACTEUR CRÉATEUR.

Her artistic path led her to become an artistic coach at Cirque du Soleil for five years, then to sign on as director of the show Les os usés for Guy Laliberté’s One Drop foundation, in which she co-created a number with Robert Lepage.

At the same time, studio work became her field of research. She was hired by Laval University’s Faculty of Medicine, where she developed a workshop on the aspect of intimacy in the doctor-patient relationship. Yoga and energy healing complement her unique expertise, enabling her to create this workshop, ÊTRE CRÉATEUR par sa présence.

This training, offered by the Regroupement québécois de la danse, is made possible thanks to the financial support of the Quebec government, through the Intervention-Compétences program administered by Compétence Culture.
