Instructor
Jamel Brown, now known as Loose Joint, is a New York freestyle hip-hop dancer with 30 years’ experience. He has moved from the streets of New York to the stage, television and film.
Jamel has been part of the dance world since childhood. As a child, he used to watch his uncle and relatives dance at family parties. But it was in the early 70s, when hip-hop culture was born, that Jamel fell in love with hip-hop and street dance. He regularly practiced his moves in front of large bank windows, using them as mirrors.
His dedication has led him to work with artists such as Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Will Smith, P.Diddy and Jay Z, to name but a few.
This training program is offered by Circuit-Est, in collaboration with the Conseil de la formation continue Arts et culture de l’Île-de-Montréal (CFC), Ebnflõh, the Festival JOAT and the Regroupement québécois de la danse (RQD). It is made possible thanks to the financial support of the Quebec government – through the Intervention-Compétences program administered by Compétence Culture – and La Caisse de la culture Desjardins.
