Personne Danse | Charles-Alexis Desgagnés

Personne Danse, a contemporary dance company founded by self-taught queer artist Charles-Alexis Desgagnés in September 2022, is headquartered in Montréal/Tiohtià:ke. The organization's mission is to create and produce high-impact choreographic works that democratize contemporary dance as a politico-social art form, at the equilateral intersection of somatic minimalism, virtuoso physical engagement and the use of the dancing body as a spiritual vector of collective healing and a symbol of political resistance.

The NPO is dedicated to celebrating both solo and large-form work, highlighting performer-choreographers and representing the histories and bodies of people from queer communities. The company expresses its choreographic language  through different lenses : on stage, in situ, immersive, cinematic and through teaching. Personne Danse advocates circular collaboration between all the artists involved in its various projects, values fundamental research centered on the body, and aims to decolonize dance practices.

Personne Danse anchors its activities (research, creation, community events, teaching and presentation of work in progress) directly from Chez Personne/Le 312, its studio space on the Plateau Mont-Royal.
