Inspirée du clubbing – notamment celui des années 1980-1990 – la pièce de Michele Rizzo observe ce mouvement à l’aune de sa croyance en une danse cathartique conçue « comme une forme de prière et de célébration de l’existence ». Cette danse, difficilement catégorisable, joue le rôle culturel d’une danse sociale qui intègre différentes techniques, styles et influences, dont le but ultime est finalement : s’exprimer.

Inspired by clubbing – especially as it waspracticed in the 80s and 90s – Michele Rizzo ’s piece observes this social phenomenon in light of the belief in the cathartic power of dance, conceived as a “form of prayer and a celebration of existence”. This dance, not easily ascribed to any category, takes the cultural role of a social dance and at times features various techniques, styles and influences and exemplifies what is the ultimate purpose of dancing: self expression.
